Five decades to celebrate 1962-2012

Este texto lo escribí para participar nuestro aniversario y celebración el 7 de julio a los amigos de habla inglesa en Canadá.
A Journey of five decades
The ’60s, tumultuous for many, for us the decade of moving and the birth of our three children. Newlyweds, moved to Boyaca, to Paz del Rio, a steell plant. Following year, the birth of Maria, and moved to Toronto, U of T for Ricardo’s Master. Birth of Ricardo (Riky) in St. Michael’s Hospital. Back to the iron ore mines in Boyacá. And in 68, moved back to the city, where Alejandro was born in Bogotá.
The 70s living mostly in Fagua, Cajica, at Rosario’s birth place. We build our first house, Riofrio. Happy times for the five of us living in the country, in the farm. School years for Maria, Ricardo and Alejo at Benedictinas and San Carlos, driving them back and forth to school and to work in our 56 Ford station wagon. Started Camping all over Colombia, Ecuador, Peru….later on to Europe for a summer. Then the years of adolescence, trips, graduations, university in Bogota, Canada, family spread around, construction of the mountain cottage Guamuca and Rosario’s pottery studio. Years of work, extensive international travel for Ricardo and life starts in Montelibano,  Cordoba.
The 80’s Our kids’ Graduation from University and continued post grad education, New Castle Upon-Tyne, UK (Maria), Montreal and Cornell (Ricardo), Javeriana, Toronto and Montreal (Alejandro). Rosario’s Master in Research and Education for Development, one of the first distance post grad schools.
The 90’s We live back in the mountains, do quite a bit of traveling… The kids start getting married and the best thing in life begins: grandchildren!!
2000 till now. So far, we have lived in Boyaca, Cajica, Bogota, Montelibano, La Calera, Ottawa since 2001……after 10 wonderful years in Canada we return to the mountains of Boyaca, where it all started back in 1962.
